It’s not all sandy beaches in the Médoc! Our campsite near Soulac-sur-Mer is also an excellent base for exploring the Médoc’s heritage and culture. Majestic lighthouses, picturesque villages, colorful markets, traditions and local gastronomy make up a territory rich in discovery. It’s impossible to miss out on the region’s many wineries, cellars, châteaux and local oyster producers. For a weekend or a vacation, let yourself be surprised by the history and authenticity of this beautiful South-West region.
Sightseeing near the campsite
In just a few minutes from the campsite, you can discover a unique heritage: colorful carrelets along the estuary, lively guinguettes, farmers’ markets, marshes and small ports. The nearby voie verte makes it easy to get around from the campsite, so leave your car in the parking lot during your stay and set off by bike, or take an all-terrain electric scooter (available for hire directly from the campsite) to explore the surrounding area!
Don’t miss emblematic historic sites such as the UNESCO-listed Cordouan lighthouse(voted France’s 2nd favorite monument in 2025) or the Soulac-sur-Mer basilica. Taste the local flavors of the Médoc: oysters, gambas from the estuary, and the famous noisettines.

Thanks to its central location, our campsite makes it easy to visit the Médoc and enjoy all the sporting activities available near Soulac-sur-Mer. With a length of 75 kilometers, a width of up to 12 kilometers, and a surface area of 635 km², the Gironde estuary is the largest estuary in Western Europe, revealing an exceptional environment: wild islands, natural banks, reefs, varied fauna… You can even embark for a cruise or a ferry crossing from Le Verdon. For culture buffs, the region also offers festivals, exhibitions and heritage tours.
